LEAK
On Saturday, June 28, a resident called in a leak. OMI stemmed the flow within two hours of notification, and were on-site Monday implementing repairs. The leak was from yet another air relief valve in the Lamy area. The valves are under-engineered for the pressures in this location, and in fact are not needed for system operations. A system engineer will be examining the issue, to recommend a permanent solution.
REPORTING LEAKS
We appreciate our community members’ help in spotting water leaks in our system. Even if there is no visible water flowing, please let us know if you see unusually green patches mysteriously appearing near our lines, tanks, or wells. Please call the OMI office at 466-4749 or the emergency number at 466-1085 during working hours, or the emergency number at 780-0090 during off hours.
However, please DO NOT try to fix the leak yourself. This includes attempting to close valves. If there are leaks, this means the valve is not stable, and the water is under high pressure. You could be severely injured if there is a sudden failure. In addition, access to any part of the infrastructure is limited to authorized personnel only. This is both for your protection and to prevent potential contamination of the water system.
