Water Resources

Water Sources
Our water is sourced from wells tapping aquifers in the Galisteo Basin and from wells drawing from seasonal flows in the Galisteo Creek alluvium.

Water Treatment

We disinfect the water using sodium hypochloride. Chlorination stations are located at each well site.

Future Water Supply
Hydrologic studies have identified a 100-year supply of water available in the District.  However, recognizing that water in underground aquifers is a dwindling resource, the District is very active in seeking a renewable source to augment and eventually replace it.

Water Rights
The District has been issued a partial license by the Office of the State Engineer that clarifies and defines the District’s water rights for the first time. It also clarifies the amount of water rights the District may develop in the future, dependent upon our ability to locate adequate sources of water. Click here to read the license document.
